Teaneck’s Yeshivat He’Atid (“He’Atid”) reached yet another key milestone as it closed out the books on its fourth year of operation. With its innovative model of high-quality, affordable education, He’Atid’s cost per student sank to just $9,270 in the 2015-16 school year, below its tuition price of $9,350 per student for the first time since its 2012 founding. With 234 students and a tuition level 40% lower than local alternatives, He’Atid parents saved $10,500 per family, or $6,600 per student, for a total of over $1.5 million in 2015-16.
“It’s truly incredible to watch our dream become a reality,” said Abby Flamholz, President of He’Atid. “Our students are growing tremendously each and every year through our cutting-edge educational program, and their parents are saving millions of dollars in the process.”
Using its education model, He’Atid’s K-4 students demonstrated outstanding academic performance and growth on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test. In 2015-16, He’Atid’s K-4 students made more progress in math than 96% of US students, and more progress in reading than 89% of US students. In math, four out of five grades scored in the 96th percentile or above, and all five grades scored in the 91st percentile or above in reading. Although only 50% of students typically achieve above-average fall-to-spring growth nationally, almost 70% of students at He’Atid did just that.
“It’s inspiring to remember that Yeshivat He’Atid was once just an idea being explored by a few passionate parents in Bergen County,” said Jeff Kiderman, Executive Director of Affordable Jewish Education Project. “He’Atid’s continuing success is a testament to both the hard work of its founders and the critical importance of the mission of delivering high-quality, affordable Jewish day school education.”
He’Atid recently welcomed Rabbi Tomer Ronen as its Head of School, and moved into a brand new state-of-the-art campus on Queen Anne Road in Teaneck. The school began its fifth school expanding to include a 5th grade. Almost 300 students are enrolled for the 2016-17 school year, an increase of over 25% for the third time since it opened in 2012 with 116 students.
At just $9,540 per student for the 2016-17 school year, He’Atid parents continue to pay 40% less than the price of local Modern Orthodox alternatives. During the 2016-17 school year, Yeshivat He’Atid parents will collectively save almost $2 million on their tuition bills. Cumulative savings since He’Atid’s founding have already surpassed $6.5 million.
