Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan has received a $1 million gift from Eileen and Jerry Lieberman to establish the Lieberman Family STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Center for its kindergarten through eighth grade students.
The new STEAM curriculum will be integrated into the coursework for every grade. For example, first grade students will build their own playground using the concepts of force and motion, while seventh graders will combine their physics and art studies to create complicated inventions to solve simple problems, a.k.a. Rube Goldberg machines.
